Uganda Wildlife Authority set to celebrate 25 years next month

All is set for the silver jubilee celebrations of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
25 years ago, UWA was established to conserve, economically develop and sustainably manage the wildlife and protected areas of Uganda in partnership with neighboring communities and other stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community. It has done this mandate with distinction despite the numerous challenges like poaching, human-wildlife conflicts and encroachment on conservation areas among others.

Bashir Hangi, the UWA Publicist says that “It has been a journey full of achievements, challenges and lessons learned. UWA at 25 is a time for us to reflect on our work and most importantly what we can do differently going forward.”

The celebration is set to feature a couple of activities in different parts of the country among them is a conservation conference scheduled for 21st June and different Corperate Social Responsibilities around the country and a grand dinner on 24th June.

In the last 25 years, UWA has registered an increase in the number of wildlife species in the different parks.
